Classes by Age & Level (what Class Should I register for?)

En Pointe Ballet offers classes for ages 3 through adults
Our Classes for boys, men, and pas de deux
help dancers to prepare for professional careers
 

WHAT CLASS SHOULD I REGISTER FOR? 


Students must be registered for their required technique class level (Pre-ballet, Ballet 1-5, Beginning pre-teen, teen or adult, Pre-pointe, Pointe, Boys/men classes) 

SPECIAL CLASSES:

Raising The Barre - includes PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique), Turns and Leaps, Turnout, Flexibility, Stretching and Conditioning


5 levels of Partnering classes - EXTRA technique classes are not required but are highly recommended. Junior levels of Partnering (pas de deux) classes have age restrictions depending on the type of class.  

PRE-BALLET THROUGH BEGINNING TEENS:

Once per week, but 2 classes per week are encouraged for these levels.

Pre-Ballet = Pre-School & Kindergarten students

Ballet 1 = First Grade

Ballet 2= Second Grade

Ballet 3= Third Grade


2 classes per week are expected for these levels to better prepare them for pre-pointe & pointe. 

Ballet 4= Fourth Grade

Ballet 5 or Beginning Pre-Teen = Fifth Grade

Beginning Teen Pre-pointe 1 = New or returning to Ballet 13- 18 years old 

 

For new students you can request a placement class if you are unsure where your dancer should start. 

A placement class is Required for new students for pre-pointe and pointe classes. 


PRE-POINTE and POINTE CLASSES: 

Twice per week required  

Pre-Pointe 1 (must be 11 years old by January 1 and be recommended by a teacher or placement class for new students)

Pre-Pointe 2 (Must be 12 Years old by Jan and have taken pre-pointe 1)

ADULT CLASSES: Adult reduced tuition rate only permitted in adult classes 

Beginning Adult Ballet - Wednesdays 7:30-9:00 & Saturday 1:00-2:00

Adult Pre-Pointe - 2 classes per week

Adult Pointe - 2 classes per week (Must be advanced by owner approval)

Senior Swans - low impact  

 BOYS and MEN:

Boys Ballet = Ages 5-9

Pre-Teen Boys Ballet = Ages 10-13

Men's Ballet = Ages 13 & Up 

PARTNERING: (Partnering levels 1 through 4 must be advanced by owner approval)

Jr Partnering = Pre Pointe Dancers & Pre Teen Boys

PP2 Partnering = Pre-pointe 2 Dancers & Pre-teen boys/young men

P1&P2 Partnering = Pointe 1 and 2 & men

Intermediate Partnering = Intermediate pointe & men

Advanced Partnering - Advanced pointe & men 


AUDITION CLASSES: Audition classes are listed in May to register for Nutcracker auditions in August and also December to register for our January auditions for our June performance. Every class performs in both annual performances but only certain classes audition for soloist and principal roles. 


PRINCIPAL & SOLOIST CLASSES: Students are added to these classes after auditions and fees are added for their extra rehearsals. 


NUTCRACKER AUDITIONS:

  • Pre-pointe 1 & 2, Pointe 1 & 2 - audition for Clara

  • Pre-teen boys - audition for Fritz and Nephew

  • Men - audition for Rat King, Nutcracker, Soldier Doll, Sugarplum Cavalier, Snow King, Dewdrop prince, Arabian Prince, and also perform as Russian and Rats

  • *Advanced Pointe - Auditions for Sugarplum, Snow Queen, Dew Drop, Arabian, and Babydoll

  • Intermediate Pointe - Auditions for Spanish Duet, Toffee Duet, Chinese Empress, Lead Angel, Mirliton pas de trois. 


* Advanced Partnering skills are required for men and pointe students to audition for the advanced pas de deux roles.


JUNE PERFORMANCE AUDITIONS: roles vary each year, but are mostly auditioned from advanced, intermediate and men’s classes.
